If you have been patiently waiting for an easier way for people to share your posts on their Twitter pages, then today is your day.
Twitter just unveiled today, its newest feature called a “Tweet Button”. Twitter hopes that this addition will encourage more people to share links right to their Twitter pages. The main goal of the new “Tweet Button” is to eliminate the number of steps that it takes to post a link. Before this launch, if you wanted to share a link with your Twitter followers, you would have to do the grueling task of copying the URL, using a link-shortening service such as Bitly to generate a unique URL, and then finally paste the shortened unique link to your twitter page. What a process!
Here’s how the new button works – If one of your readers decided that they like what they see and want to share it with the rest of the Twittersphere, they can hit the “Tweet Button” and they will be displayed with a separate popup window that gives them a shorted link to your post/article. If they want to they can add a brief message to the link and hit “Tweet”. This will then automatically send the post they created, right to their Twitter feed. And the best part is, they don’t even leave your website!
In addition to its ease of use, each time a reader uses this feature to Tweet your post/article, you’ll be in the loop: Next to the “Tweet Button” itself is a handy tool that keeps a live tally of the tweets.
For developers, it’s simple: all you have to do is add a few short lines of code, and the tweet icon will appear beneath post/article. The button is said to come in three different versions – 55 x 20 pixels, 55 x 63 pixels, and 110 x 20 pixels – with five different options to customize.
So get the Tweet Button for your website today, and let the sharing begin!
