Quick answerSEO isn't dead. The version built on chasing keyword volume and ranking one page for one query is. Google now answers most searches on the results page itself, so the job has shifted from ranking a link to becoming the source that gets cited in the answer. Brands cited in Google's AI Overviews earn roughly twice the clicks per impression of brands that aren't cited. The catch is that even cited pages get fewer clicks than they did before AI Overviews existed.
