Nike Auctions Off Back to the Future Sneakers for Charity
Every so often, we need to stop and tip our hats to marketing campaigns that epitomizes the fun and innovation of the industry. Back for the Future is one of those campaigns. 1,500 pairs of Nike sneakers based on the fictional Back to the Future sneaker McFly wore have been produced and are being auctioned off via E-bay. All of the proceeds will be going to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. The interactive website offers a trip through time and valuable campaign information. The first pair of sneakers, auctioned separately, brought in $37,500. Of course, we still think the shoes should have come with auto-lace.
In their latest effort to battle the endless influence of Google, technology companies AOL, Yahoo and Microsoft have entered talks of a deal to sell each other’s advertising. In addition, rumors emerged this week of a possible AOL – Yahoo merger.
